Jane Fonda in Mumbai for Women's Day (Go To Top)

          Mumbai: International Women's Day saw the introduction of the 'V-Day' movement in Mumbai . It was marked by famous Hollywood star Jane Fonda visiting the city.The V-Day is a global movement seeking to end violence against women and girls. It undertakes the responsibility of promoting creative events that increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of the award-winning play 'The Vagina Monologues'. Eve Ensler, the playwright, is the founder of the V-Day movement, in which the V stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina.

Usha Ganguli leaves Lahore spellbound (Go To Top)

          Lahore: A solo performance at the ongoing Zanani Theatre Festival by Indian actress Usha Ganguli was greeted with applause on Monday evening at the Alhamra hall here. Kolkata-based Ganguli was praised for her one-woman play Antar Yatra, which she has written and directed herself. According to the Daily Times, the 90-minute non-stop dialogue, performed through different rhythmic moods, shades and tones enthralled the audience. Some local theatre critics described her body language as "perfect," to which she replied, "It is because I have 30 years experience and that I am a Bharatnatyam dancer."

         It was Ganguli's 48th performance of the play, reflecting the roles of different women and the collage of their experiences. Earlier, human rights activist Tahira Mazhar Ali gave a talk on discriminatory laws against women. Her speech was followed by tributes to women who passed away in the last two years, including Alys Faiz, Malikha Pukhraj, Khadija Gauher and Salma Subhan.

          London: The late Princess Diana's ex-butler, Paul Burrell has revealed that she never stopped loving Prince Charles and sent him Valentine's cards. According to the Sun, Burrell repeated his claim that Diana was not in love with Dodi Fayed, who died with her in a Paris car crash in 1997. "A part of her always loved Charles. He was always giving her presents - at first jewels, then straw hats. Diana would always send him a Valentine's card," said Burrell. Burrell also told an Italian paper, "She was never in love with Dodi. There was a special male friend of the heart - but it wasn't Dodi Fayed."

         Washington: Actress-turned-designer Sadie Frost has revealed that her ex-hubby, Jude Law's incredible public profile destroyed their marriage. The 'Cold Mountain' hunk is now one of Britain's most acclaimed and famous actors, and Sadie said that his meteoric rise to fame altered their relationship beyond recognition. Nevertheless, Sadie strongly feels that she loved the real Jude and not the celebrity baggage that he now carries. "I respect him and I couldn't have chosen a better person to be the father of my kids, but things went wrong. I wanted to have more of a private family life, to feel that at home Jude wasn't being claimed by everyone else, and everyone had a piece of him," imdb quoted Sadie as saying. "He was a young unknown who grew into this big personality. I fell in love with him because of who he was inside, not because of all the starry stuff, and that became too much to deal with. I wanted to go back to our simple life, but we couldn't do that," added a nostalgic Sadie.

         Washington: Movie actress Naomi Watts is seriously considering taking a break from her successful acting career because she wants to become a mother. The 35-year old 'The Ring' star, who is dating Aussie hunk Heath Ledger, feels that she cannot ignore her yearning to have a child any longer. "My mother is dying for me to have children and, quite frankly, I've been dying for it since I was 19, but I hadn't met the right man," imdb quoted Watts as saying. She added, "It's interesting. At the age of 35, my career couldn't be going better but we all know that fertility slows down at this point, so it's about making choices. I really do want to experience a baby," Watts added.

         Sydney: If Olivier Martinez likes pop star Kylie Minogue, it's none of your business. Or is it? Well, the French star is a chivalrous dude, as he declared the Aussie singer off-limits when chatting to Confidential's New York operative, Phil Coorey. "What did you say, I can't hear you, I have a bad reception, goodbye, click," he joked, holding a bottle of water to his ear as if it was a phone. The actor was in New York recently to promote schlock-thriller "Taking Lives", in which he stars alongside Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke. "I'll have to call my girlfriend and say to her 'what's going on with Australians?'. You are the only people talking about my girlfriend more than about my job," Olivier noted. "My life is my life, I love pretty women especially one pretty as this, but let's talk about movies because I also love my job", he added.

A third of people surfing for sex are women! (Go To Top)

          London: Sex sure sells! And latest figures reveal that there's a 200 per cent leap in the numbers looking at X- rated pictures. According to a report in 'The Mirror', a third of Britons surfing for hardcore images are women and 44 per cent believe that having sex on the net is not really cheating! Talking dirty on the web is a growing trend among women - 13 per cent admit taking part in cybersex.
