Gurinder Chaddha in Oscars elite panel of judges

          Washington: Ever wondered who decides which actors will take home the coveted Oscar awards for the year? This year, in order to debunk rumours that the Oscars are often unfair, the Academy of Motion Pictures has released the list of the celebrities who will join the panel to decide the Oscar Winners. This year the Academy of Motion Pictures announced the usually secretive list publicly because they have recently come under fire for not making the selection a transparent process and also for having judges who are way over the hill. According to E Online, the first batch of the 127 major Hollywood contributors, who have received invitations to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this year, includes actors Sean Penn, Viggo Mortensen, Sofia Coppola, Scarlett Johansson and Maggie Gyllenhaal and directors Gurinder Chaddha, Fernando Meirelles, Miguel Arteta, among others.

Rowling reveals the title of her next 'Harry Potter' book (Go To Top)

          Washington: The secret behind Harry Potter's sixth title is out. According to EOnline, J.K. Rowling has announced that 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince' will be the title of her next book, on her official website www.JKRowling.com. Rowling wrote in her website, "Well the door opened at last and I showed you the title of book six- the genuine title, the title that will appear on the published book, the title I have been using in my head for ages and ages". Rowling, however, has not disclosed any details about her upcoming novel and has neither given any clues as to when she will be over with the writing of the book, though she said that it would not happen very soon. The billionaire author also laughed off other rumoured titles like 'Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storge'. "I am trying very hard not to be offended that anyone thought this was possible," she was quoted as saying.

          New York: Former US President Bill Clinton's literary sojourn "My Life", after having sold an estimated 935,000 copies in its first six days in stores last week, is all set to break the one million barrier any day, New York Daily News quoted the book's publisher Knopf as saying. Clinton's book is reportedly believed to have taken the fastest takeoff from the shelves for a non-fictional hardcover in history.

          New York: Movie actress Halle Berry has advocated the use of sex toys to add spice to your love life. The Bond girl has revealed that when she is in a mood to experiment with her sex life, she visits an LA store called 'Pleasure Chest' that specializes in sexy lingerie, whips and assorted rubber products. "Make regular visits to the Pleasure Chest. You can't forget your sexuality. That's not good," The New York Daily News quoted Halle as saying.           Washington: A woman who had a major crush on Michael Douglas and had been pestering Catherine Zeta Jones with threatening letters, has reportedly apologised to the actress. According to Eonline, Dawnette Knight, who was arrested earlier this month for harassing the 'Chicago' star with a series of phone calls and threatening letters, admitted in a note that she is just a "confused young woman infatuated with Michael Douglas" who has "no rational explanation for my actions." "I want to apologize for any distress I have caused you and your families," she added.

Botox injections could improve women's sex lives: study (Go To Top)

         London: Women now have one more reason to get the skin firming Botox injections, after a new study has found that it helps cure a sexual disorder called vaginismus. According to The Telegraph, vaginismus is a condition that causes the muscles around the vagina to go into involuntary spasm, preventing women from having penetrative sex. .During the course of the study, scientists at Teheran University, Iran, injected 20 women suffering from the disease with Botox and found that it helped more than 80 percent of the women, since Botox works by paralysing muscles. "Seventeen patients achieved satisfactory intercourse after the first injection. One was cured after the second injection," the researchers wrote in their study.

         Sydney: Elvis Presley is set to get his very own 24/7, free to air radio station. According to The Herald Sun, the first broadcast of 'Elvis Radio' will be made from Memphis, Tennessee, where fans will gather to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his first hit, 'That's All Right'. "I know he'd be beaming with pride at having his very own station," Elvis' former wife Priscilla Presley was quoted as saying by paper.

           London: Giving birth to a baby boy has put a Belgian couple in a strange dilemma, they cannot think of a name which is associated with the rock legend Elvis Presley, for their sixteenth child,.According to Ananova, the husband and wife are big fans of the rock and roll king and they have named their first fifteen kids after him. This time around, they were hoping to have a baby girl, so that they could have named her Linda, one of Elvis's girlfriends. Their children's names include Elvis, Priscilla, Dakota and Tennessee. "If it had been a girl we would have called her Linda. Elvis once had a lover with that name. But we have run out of ideas for a boy," said the pair.

          London: Shrek 2 star Antoio Banderas was so desperate for his favourite curry, that he ordered some to be delivered at the Luton airport, upon his arrival in Britain. According to the Sun, the fare which was chauffeured from London's star-rated Tamarind Indian restaurant in plush Mayfair included among others, hara kebab, pan-fried cakes of potato, lentils and spinach with tomato chutney, bhalla papri chaat, tandoori-grilled portabella, shiitake, button and oyster mushrooms, mahi machchi tikka and grilled monkfish marinated with gram flour and ajwain. More than 40 people who worked on the mega-hit movie were treated to the feast, which reportedly cost Banderas more than 700 Pounds. "I just love the curry in Britain. It is delicious", he was quoted as saying.

Diana memorial fountain called a costly 'storm drain' (Go To Top)

          London: The Princess Diana memorial fountain has finally been unveiled but it was instantly branded an expensive 'storm drain' by visitors. According to The Sun, visitors and tourists, who had a first glimpse of the 3.6 million pounds 'Hyde Park' water feature were not too impressed by the permanent tribute in honour of the late Princess. "It does nothing for me. It's ghastly. It looks like an expensive storm drain," a regular visitor to the park was quoted as saying. "It reminds me of a theme park ride. How is it meant to represent Diana," another passer by said. And, while according to designer Kathryn Gustafson it was chosen to symbolise Diana's life, Vivienne Parry, a founder member of the Princess Diana Fund was not impressed. "The designer says it's what Diana would've wanted but I'm not impressed," she was quoted as saying. The stone fountain is due to be officially opened by the Queen at a royal ceremony next week. Prince Charles and Diana's sons, William and Harry will also be present on the occasion.

The new book, "Diana: In Pursuit of Love," "covers her only years as an independent woman" - her final five years from 1992 to the August 1997 car crash that killed her and her playboy lover, Dodi Fayed", the New York Daily News quoted Morton as saying. Diana who believed in reincarnation and was convinced she had been a nun in her previous birth had "a really low boredom threshold" where men were concerned.           London: A survey conducted by ICM has found changes in the behavioral pattern of men who now prefer the metrosexual image to the macho man idol. The survey found that men today are more likely to cry than get into a fight, says a new study. According to the survey, they are also happy to talk openly about their feelings, buy beauty products and even have a manicure or take Botox injections to slow down aging. "It's an unwritten rule that men hug each other, weep openly and tell each other everything with the only proviso that women must never find out," Researcher Bill Borrows was quoted as saying by The Mirror. "The reason is simple. Women prefer bastards. I am one of the 10 per cent who admits to having a manicure. I enjoyed it," he added.
