         London: A Rolex watch gifted to the assassinated US president John F Kennedy on his 45th birthday on May 29, 1962, by Marilyn Monroe is now on sale for 2.6 million pounds. According to Hello magazine, the watch bears the inscription "Jack, with love always, from Marilyn". The Rolex was gifted to Kennedy by the legendary actress ten days after the popular rendition of 'Happy Birthday Mr President' at a Madison Square Garden concert in his honour. But Kennedy was reportedly so concerned about the possible media furore over Marilyn's gift that he gave it to an aide with the instruction to get rid of it. The presidential employee, however, kept the watch and it was passed down generation after generation in his family.

         London: Pop star Britney Spears is now rarely seen wearing the red string bracelet that is a symbol of the Kabbalah cult. "Britney's mum doesn't really approve of the religion. They've been spending a lot of time together lately so maybe she's had a bit of an influence," The Mirror quoted a source as saying. However, Britney's spokesperson has claimed that the bracelets usually fall off when they have absorbed too much of negative energy. "With what she's been through recently, maybe her bracelets keep crumbling," he added.

Madonna gets rid of her stalker (Go To Top)

         New York: While Madonna was busy preparing for her 'Reinvention' tour, her security guards had a tough time keeping a stalker at bay. The man who has been stalking the pop diva for sometime was thrown out of the Madison Square Garden, where Madonna was supposed to perform. The man was singled out by security guards after they identified him from a photo, which had been handed out to them. According to The New York Post, the stalker who had been annoying the singer by constantly calling her up in her office, was immediately removed from the premises even though he had a ticket for the show. The singer does not have restraining orders against the man so security officials could not arrest him.

Madonna exhibits her new name on her undies (Go To Top)

         London: Pop icon Madonna has a strange way of telling the world that she now wants to be addressed by a new name Esther, the diva displays the name on her undies. According to The Sun, at a recent performance in Madison Square Garden, New York, the "Papa Don't Preach" singer picked up her Kilt, to give the audience glimpse of the bloomers that she wore underneath, which had the letter E illustrated on them. Madonna had recently rechristened herself Esther after the Jewish Queen in the Old treatment.

Timberlake offers to write songs for ex-love Britney (Go To Top)

         Washington: Pop sensation Justin Timberlake has come to the rescue of the damsel in distress, Britney Spears. Timberlake has offered to write songs for his ex-girlfriend in a bid to revive her flagging career. The 'Cry Me A River' singer, who is now dating actress Cameron Diaz, offered his services to Britney after watching her suffer the pain of cancelling her tour. Britney is currently recovering from an injured knee and she is hopeful that her collaboration with Timberlake will boost her career as she waits to reschedule her Onyx Hotel tour. "Justin is there for Britney at the moment because she has had a really tough time," rate the music quoted a source as saying. "She is obviously upset about having to cancel her tour. Even though her songs are doing OK, she is worried about how letting her fans down will affect her future," added the source. "Justin feels bad for her and he in a position at the moment to help. They fell out badly when they first split up, but now they both have new partners, they have been able to rekindle a friendship," added Timerlake's friend.

Buckingham Palace pulls all stops to plug the leaks (Go To Top)

         London: In an attempt to prevent leaks about the lives of the Royals from filtering out into the open, Buckingham Palace is reportedly spending thousands of pounds entering into confidentiality contracts with the palace staff, reports the Daily Mail. The move which has led to huge legal bills amounting to 125000 Pounds for covering the contract costs, follows after several stories from Diana's former butler Paul Burrell and Daily Mirror undercover reporter Ryan Parry who secured a palace job, went public. The new contract, which will affect every staff member from the entry level right up to Lord Chamberlain, has been worded carefully to avoid legal loopholes, which enabled previous leaks to go unpunished.

Shyamalan's `past' mysteriously disappears (Go To Top)

          Washington: Tapes containing clips of 'The buried Secret of M Night Shyamalan', a documentary based on the life of the director, have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The tapes, which were to be sent to about 50 TV critics prior to the documentary's premiere, went missing soon after they left a distribution cell in New York. According to Zap2it.com, Sci Fi, the channel on which the documentary would have premiered, suspect an "inside job" and have vowed to take strong action against whoever filched the tapes. The film, reportedly began as a promo piece for Shyamalan's new movie "The Village", which got shelved after the producers became more interested in the movie maker's past. Sci Fi reps says that Shyamalan tried to stop producers Nathaniel Kahn and Callum Greene after they started contacting people from Shyamalan's past in an attempt to fathom how the genius' mind works, the report added.

The flip side of famous diets like Dr Atkins (Go To Top)

          Washington: A new study has restated that no matter what your physical instructor says, the only way to lose weight is to consume food that is low on calories. The study also revealed the side effects of various popular diets like Dr Atkins and South Beach Diet. According to the study, which was conducted by nutritionists at the Mayo clinic and published in the July issue of Mayo Health Clinic's Healthsource, whereas most of these diets are effective for the time being, in the long run they are harmful. The study revealed that Dr Atkins diet, which focuses on controlling the carbohydrates you eat, recommends several foods, which are associated with increased health risks and stand to harm you in the long run. The popular South Beach diet, which restricts dieters to certain carbohydrates and fats and avoids foods with a high glycemic index, lacks emphasis on lifestyle changes, which are critical for basic weight management. Another popular diet called the Zone diet is based on the assumption that eating specific quantities of food at prescribed times changes metabolism that results in weight loss. However, there is no evidence that metabolism can be manipulated. People usually lose weight on this diet because it is low on calories and emphasizes on fruits and vegetables. The study rates, a diet called the Weight Watchers diet, which involves giving points to the calorific content of foods coupled with keeping a food diary and attending weekly meetings is one of the healthiest weight loss programs available, as it promotes a balance, moderation and long-lasting weight control.

Beyonce reunites 'Destiny's Child' (Go To Top)

          Washington: After a hugely successful solo career Grammy award winner Beyonce Knowles is all set to reunite with her former "Destiny's Child" bandmates to perform live in September in Los Angeles. According to E!Online, Beyonce Knowles had said "I think the great thing about us doing this is we will all have to develop individually," in 2002 while explaning the reason behind the band's split. Since then, the "Crazy in Love" singer has made headlines by becoming the brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger's new fragrance as well as being signed on as Pepsi pitchperson. She is also preparing to launch her own fashion line.
