`Spiderman' doesn't like movie trailers (Go To Top)

         Washington: Movie trailers might offer fans a glimpse of upcoming flicks but Tobey Maguire has strong feelings towards them. According to Teen Hollywood, the Spiderman star has blasted the Hollywood studios for giving away too much information through movie trailers. He is often left disappointed when he goes to the cinema, because he feels like he's already seen the films whose promotional shorts he just watched. "I think fans know too much about movies these days. I'm a fan too and I feel that way. A year from now, you'll be able to buy the DVD in a store and I don't think it's a big deal to have to have to wait to be genuinely surprised by what's in the film," he was quoted as saying. "I think it's gotten to the point where you can almost watch the trailers for some films and feel like you've seen the whole film, like you can predict everything that happens in the film," he added.

The Spencers get their revenge on Di's butler (Go To Top)

          London: Paul Burrell seems to have finally paid the price for spilling the beans on Princess Diana's private life. According to The Sun, Di's family has cut Burrell out of a detailed book on her life. It will not mention the traitor, despite Di calling him her "rock". The Princess Diana Memorial Fund, which has commissioned the book, expect it to be a best seller when published in October. Di's mother Frances Shand Kydd and sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes who gave interviews for the book reportedly insisted that Burrell, who has made a fortune from blabbing about his time with Di, should not be mentioned. A Spencer family source said, "As far as they are concerned he is a liar and a cheat. They never want to see or hear from him again."

It's a baby girl for Courteney Cox (Go To Top)

          Washington: The stork has finally come calling for Courteney Cox. The 'Friends' star recently gave birth to her first child in Los Angeles following years of failed attempts. According to E online, Cox went into labour on the day of her five-year wedding anniversary and gave birth to a girl about a week before the baby was due. The couple have reportedly not announced a name for the child. Cox had gone public in recent months with their child-bearing difficulties. She said that the couple had begun trying to conceive via in vitro fertilization, and if that failed, she said they would consider alternatives, but only as a last resort.

Oprah's review makes Tolstoy classic a bestseller (Go To Top)

          London: Leo Tolstoy's 19th century classic, Anna Karenina, has become a No 1 bestseller for Penguin Books all thanks to renowned talk-show host Oprah Winfrey. According to The Telegraph, she asked millions of viewers not to "be scared" by the book's 837 pages, as it was the "summer" chance for everybody to "read one of the greatest love stories of our time". She added that it would be a first time for her, as she had always avoided the book. "It's a great read, I hear." The book headed US charts compiled by the New York Times, USA Today and Publishers's Weekly and outsold works by contemporary authors such as Dan Brown, Nicholas Sparks and Danielle Steel.

Marriage came in 2 minutes for Jessica Simpson (Go To Top)

          London: It took Jessica Simpson, just two minutes to decide that she wanted to marry husband Nick Lachey. According to Teen Hollywood, in an interview to Britain's B magazine, the singer said that after spending two minutes talking to Nick, she was convinced that they would end up as husband and wife. "I knew the moment I met him. We had a two-minute conversation, just talking stupid stuff, and I told my mom, 'That is my dream guy. I want to marry him.' Something about him just totally captivated me," she was quoted as saying. The newlywed singer also admitted that she is very happy about the fact that she waited until they were married to sleep with Nick. "There are guys out there who will understand. They're very rare. It's the best thing I've ever done because when you find the love, like the love that we have, you want to share this one thing with one person. I can't imagine being intimate with anybody else," she said.

         London: Drew Barrymore was reportedly furious with her boyfriend Fabrizio Moretti for showing some of her raunchy photographs to his friends. According to Teen Hollywood, the actress had sent the snaps to Moretti on his mobile phone and was furious when she discovered that he had been showing off those pictures. "Drew sent some pictures of herself in a lingerie changing room to his phone with a note telling him what he was missing while he was on tour. But they ended up being circulated among Fab's pals and when Drew found out she was furious,"a source was quoted as saying by The Daily Mirror.

Nothing `Curious' about Britney's fragrance anymore (Go To Top)

          Washington: Pop star Britney Spears is all set to take the business world by storm by launching her own fragrance and an accompanying beauty product line. The `Toxic' singer's new fragrance called 'Curious', which is a blend of white flowers and vanilla-infused mask, will be launched in this autumn. According to rate the music, the fragrance is part of a licensing agreement with Elizabeth Arden. Meanwhile, packaging for the 'Curious' fragrance will feature two of Britney's favourite colours- pink and azure blue, and the bottle will be azure with heart-shaped charms. Moreover, a scented whipped body cream, shower gel and solid shimmer stick will debut in department stores in September 2004.

Colin Farrell knows how to mix business with pleasure (Go To Top)

          London: Movie actor Colin Farrell celebrated his 28th birthday with fanfare despite being preoccupied with his film schedules. The Irish actor, who is currently in South Africa for the shooting of `Ask The Dust', invited his co-star Salma Hayek, her boyfriend Josh Lucas and 160 other guests to a lavish party at a Cape Town bar. "Colin didn't get to the Asoka Son Of Dharma bar until 9pm because he was shooting but when he did roll up, he looked gorgeous," The Mirror quoted a source as saying. "He chatted to a blonde at the bar for a while and there was no end of ladies happy to be with him," added the source.

Naseeruddin, Nandita main characters in `Junoon's' video (Go To Top)

          Lahore: Bollywood's famed actors Naseeruddin Shah and Nandita Das have both played a significant role in the latest music video of Pakistan's biggest rock band, "Junoon" that is to be released on August 14. According to the Daily Times, "Junoon" has completed shooting for the video titled "Ghoom Tana". The shooting took place in Patiala (East Punjab) and Lahore. The paper quoted Salman Ahmed, the lead guitarist of the group, as saying over the weekend that the song was over voiced by Naseeruddin Shah while Nandita Das played the main character. Saqib Malik directed the video. Ahmed said he had chosen Lahore and Patiala for the video because of the mass migrations that took place between the two cities during the Partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947. He said the United Nations under secretary general had endorsed the song and he would visit President Pervez Musharraf to show him the video. He also that the chief minister of East Punjab and erstwhile ruler of Patiala, Captain Amarinder Singh had been very helpful in facilitating the shooting of the video.

           Indian cinematographer Sanjay Kapoor, who has worked on several Hollywood and Bollywood films, was also part of the Ghoom Tana project. Kapoor said it was his first visit to Pakistan and he was enjoying himself. "I have found no difference between the people of India and Pakistan," he said. On Sunday, the rock group had the people of Lahore swinging to most of their popular tunes at the Alhamra Cultural Complex. Security was tight and the show started two hours late. Popular songs like "Garaj baras", "Sayonee", "Khudi ko kar buland" and "Yaar bina" drove the crowd wild with enthusiasm. The band closed with "Taara jala", a slow song that gave the crowd goose bumps. This was Junoon's first performance in Lahore for six months. The Daily Times, Mobile Zone, The Planet, Lakson and Tobacco and Thomson sponsored the event, the proceeds from which will go to HHCS, a charity.
