          New York: Democrat candidate John Kerry should have a dog or some other pet to enhance his image among voters. His Republican counterpart Bush has been posing for photo-ops with his Scotty Barney, and PROs believe that a pet is a must to win goodwill among voters. They say that pets have been instrumental in helping candidates win the electoral race and most pet-less candidates usually lose presidential elections. According to The New York Post, some previous presidents have had pets. Clinton had Buddy while F.D Roosevelt had a dog called Fala. Reagan even had horses. However, it is not certain whether Abraham Lincoln and George Washington had pets.

Worldwide web creator knighted (Go To Top)

          London: He's been termed as the "father of the web", for opening up new vistas by inventing the world wide web in the 90's and so it was more than appropriate when Tim Berners- Lee, received his knighthood from the Queen for "services to the global development of the Internet". According to BBC, the British inventor already has an OBE to his credit. The Queen knighted Sir Tim using the sword that belonged to her father, King George VI in the hour-long ceremony held in the Ballroom at the Buckingham Palace. "I suppose it's amazing when you think how many things people get involved in that don't work. It's very heartening that this one actually did," he was quoted as saying.

The New York Post has Britney hopping mad (Go To Top)

          New York: Pop diva Britney Spears has asked the New York Post for an apology, a revocation and a financial settlement for publishing pictures of her while drinking what they labeled as 'Whiskey.' The "Toxic" singer called the pictures "totally fabricated, fictional and defamatory," as she was actually drinking a herbal tonic called 'Ginseng' which was sold to her by a Californian clerk, reports the New York Daily News. Ginseng is supposed to be an energy booster. The clerk who sold her the bottle of Ginseng for one dollar is also backing Britney's claims. According to the report, various newspapers, including several British tabloids had printed the pictures last week, but Britney has not taken any action against them. "Ms. Spears intends to file a lawsuit against the New York Post and Bill Hoffmann, the writer of the article, unless the paper immediately issues an appropriate retraction, apology and financial settlement," her lawyer Martin Singer was quoted as saying.

          New York: It seems pop diva Britney Spears plans to relocate after her November wedding, after she recently put her New York apartment up for sale. According to the New York Post, the apartment, which is being sold for a cool 6 million dollars, covers 4,400 square feet and comprises of the top four floors of the famous 'Silk Building.' The NoHo apartment has eight rooms, 13-foot ceilings, several wood-burning fireplaces, a large rooftop terrace and a solarium, according to the list prepared by her real estate agents. It also boasts of having top notch celebrities like Tom Cruise and Cher for neighbors and was previously owned by 'Rolling Stones' guitarist Keith Richards.

Rugby player hides in fridge to evade deportation (Go To Top)

          London: A Tongan rugby player hid himself in a refrigerator to evade deportation from New Zealand According to Ananova, The country's Immigration Service, along with the police, went to a house in a suburb of Auckland following a tip-off. They found the man, one of 14 Tongan rugby players who didn't return home from a trip to New Zealand last year, in the fridge. Cabbages strewn across the kitchen floor apparently led officials to the fridge, says the Stuff website. "When we went along we found him in the fridge with the cabbages cast aside for him to hide," Immigration Service spokesperson Kathryn O'Sullivan was quoted as saying.

Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' voted the best album ever (Go To Top)

          Sydney: A survey conducted by the Daily Telegraph newspaper has voted Pink Floyd's classic album "Dark Side of the Moon" as the best album of all time, while John Lennon's anthem "Imagine" was voted as the best song ever. The poll was held by the paper to mark the 50 years of rock and roll, which is being celebrated all over the world this year. Rock legends like 'The Beatles,' 'Led Zeppelin,' 'Cold Chisel,' 'The Rolling Stones' and 'Elvis Presley' also won a lot of votes. "It is an experience more than just a collection of songs. More than three-minute pop songs, the mood and feeling of the music grows and goes to new places. The album still has that even now," the report quoted a reader Ray Corcoran, as saying.

Jack Nicholson has bought the 'Godfather's' Beverly Hills home (Go To Top)

          New York: Actor Jack Nicholson has already bought Marlon Brando's Beverly Hills house. According to The New York Post, the two actors lived close to each other and also had the same housekeeper. The stars often spent time with each other sharing an evening or discussing their love of acting. The "Something's gotta give" star also enjoyed painting and some of his work was hung in Brando's house.
