          London: He might be Hollywood's eponymous sleuth, but Pierce Brosnan's son has been arrested in central London on suspicion of possessing stolen mobile telephones. According to the Daily Mail, 32-year-old Christopher, Brosnan's adopted child, was detained at the celebrity nightclub Chinawhite's. "A 32-year-old man was initially arrested at a central London nightclub on suspicion of possessing stolen mobile telephones. He was taken into custody at a central London Police station," a Scotland Yard spokesman was quoted as saying. Christopher was also detained for failing to answer a police bail over allegations of the theft of a handbag from the Victoria coach station earlier this year.

David Beckham's ball loses value after fake bid (Go To Top)

          Sydney: A 17.13 million dollar bid on the ball that David Beckham shot off during the penalty in Euro 2004 has been found to be fake. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the Spanish site of Internet auctioneers eBay, on which the ball is up for auction has now decided to lower the top bid to 40,510.45 dollars. The ball was put up for sale by the Spanish football fan who grabbed it while he was watching the Euro 2004 quarter-final at the Luz stadium in Lisbon.

Justin Timberlake declares support for Democrats (Go To Top)

          Washington: Pop star Justin Timberlake is actively getting involved in politics and supporting the Democrats as the American presidential elections draw near. The `Rock Your Body' singer will host an exclusive party at a Democratic Convention in Boston later this month in honour of Tennessee politician Harold Ford Jnr. According to insiders, the Democrats are extremely happy to have another high-profile celebrity publically helping with their bid to replace incumbent President George Bush with their leader John Kerry. "The Democrats are delighted to have Justin on board," rate the music quoted a source as saying. Other vocal democrat celebrities include Ben Affleck, Barbara Streisand and Bon Jovi.

          New York: Sir Elton John remembers his meeting with Sir Paul McCartney as heavenly. According to ratethemusic.com, Elton met Paul at the Abbey road studios in London while recording with the comedy group, The Barron Knights. "In walked Paul McCartney when 'Hey Jude' was number one and Bernie and I were standing there like, 'Oh my God, it's Paul McCartney," Elton recalls. "They asked him to play it and he reluctantly sat down and played Hey Jude and Bernie and I were standing in the corner going, 'Oh my God, I think we've just died and gone to heaven,'," he added.

Punk rocker Arthur 'Killer' Kane is dead (Go To Top)

         London: Arthur Kane, the bass player for popular 1970s US band The New York Dolls, has passed away. According to the BBC, Arthur "Killer" Kane, famous for his swaggering style on stage, was suffering from leukaemia. He was one of three surviving members of a band that pioneered punk rock in the 1970s. Ironically, The New York Dolls had performed two reunion shows at London's Royal Festival Hall last month. "He has left us with some great musical memories," Morrissey, a diehard Dolls fan and the organizer of the Festival Hall show, was quoted as saying. "I am personally very grateful to Arthur for his essential contribution to the Dolls and their music. He was a very gentle soul, and I know he lived for many years in the hope of a Dolls reunion," Morrisey added.

          London: Hollywood's `Catwoman' Halle Berry is so disillusioned with the institution of marriage that she has decided to remain single for the time being. "I just don't get relationships right and now I'm learning there's more in life than a relationship with a man. I've been forced to learn to get over that fear of loneliness and I'm becoming a person who feels really good being alone," The Mirror quoted her as saying. "I will not marry again. I'll never get married again - that's a fact. I know now and understand on a primal level that I'm really OK and don't need a man to complement me", she added. "The man for me is now the cherry on the pie, but I'm the pie and my pie is good all by itself, even if I don't have a cherry. That's the way I'm looking at it - my pie is good all by itself and that sometimes means being alone, but I'm OK with that these days," she further said.

          London: A Romanian man has started studying law and filed a series of law suits against the company he was working for so that he could meet Judge Elena Lala every week. According to Ananova, Sandu Gurguiatu fell for Judge Lala when he entered her courtroom three years ago. He discovered that she was married, so he filed over 100 lawsuits so that he could meet her regularly. "The only solution was to see her in court so I began studying the law and calling into justice the company where I used to work. I started over a hundred lawsuits and thus I could see her almost every week," Gurguiatu was quoted as saying. He never revealed his feelings for her, but when Judge Lala found out, she expressed her surprise and pity for him. "I feel pity for this man. It is true I judged many labour lawsuits in which Mr. Gurguiatu was involved, but for me all the people who come into justice are equal," she was quoted as saying.

          London: Want to know what pop diva Britney Spears' much anticipated November wedding will entail? Apparently, white tulips worth 100,000 dollars, which will be flown specially from Amsterdam and 300 bottles of Cristal champagne, reports The Sun. The "Toxic" singer is leaving no stone unturned to make her wedding with dancer boyfriend Kevin Federline an affair to remember, and plans to spend a whopping one million dollars on it. The nuptials will take place in one of Los Angeles oldest and biggest hotels, famous for some of its legendary Hollywood visitors such as Marilyn Munroe, Rock Hudson, and rock and roll couple Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. Britney's guest list includes 400 people, and she will wear a very traditional white gown for the occasion. She will also have five bridesmaids, including kid sister Jamie. The 22-year singer, who will be getting married for the second time after her whimsical 55-hour wedding to childhood pal Jason Alexander, is reportedly looking up a lot of wedding magazines and getting inputs from her mom and her wedding planner. "She hasn't decided on a wedding breakfast menu yet but has said she isn't skimping on anything. She said she wants a massive affair that is nothing like the Las Vegas cheap wedding she had before, which was annulled after just 55 hours," the report quoted an insider as saying.

UK couples have just a 16-minute long social life (Go To Top)

          London: The idiot box is being blamed for the decrease in the quality time that couples spend together, if a new survey is to be believed. According to the Telegraph, The Time Use Survey, carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that couples spend an average of two and a half hours or 150 minutes per day with each other. As a part of the survey, 11,700 interviews were conducted in 6,500 households and it looked at 21,000 diaries that recorded people's time in 10 minutes slots throughout the day. It was found that couples spent 55 minutes watching television, 30 minutes eating, 24 carrying out housework and 16 minutes on a social life. Couples in a live-in relationship spend 30 minutes less than their married counterparts. Retired couples spend the most amount of time together each day - an average of four hours. While those aged between 35 and 44 spend just over one and a half hours a day. Childless couples spent three hours together than those with children who spent just over one and a half hours. Men and women spent 60percent of their time viewing TV without their other half, while two-thirds of meals were not eaten with a partner.

          London: New York Dolls, the pioneers of punk, are back together to play at London's Meltdown festival, all thanks to Morrissey. According to the BBC, Morrissey has persuaded 1970s group to get their act together for the event in which the band's three surviving members will be joined by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin and Libertines drummer Gary Powell. Morrissey is curating this year's alternative arts festival, which will also feature Jane Birkin, Nancy Sinatra and playwright Alan Bennett.

Gwyneth buys a 2.5mln dollar pad to be near her Indian gurus (Go To Top)

         London: Hollywood beauty Gwyneth Paltrow and rocker husband Chris Martin have shelled out a whopping 2.5 million dollars to buy a new house close to the one occupied by their health gurus. According to The Sun, the house in Belsize Park, northwest London, which was previously owned by 'Titanic' actress Kate Winslet, is close to their Indian ayurvedic medicine adviser and their Ashtanga yoga teacher. The "Shallow Hall" actress and the "Coldplay" front man are now investing 500,000 dollars in the house to get renovations and raise the walls to keep away trespassers. The house also boasts of being in the same neighborhood as British actors Helena Bonham Carter and Jude Law's houses. "Gwyneth and Chris are both sick of the London traffic. The new house not only offers them security, it is ideally placed to see all their health gurus," the report quoted a source as saying.
