Agassi's Hall of Fame salutation has Steffi in tears (Go To Top)

"It has taken my breath away to see how you have quietly laid down your racket to pursue love and motherhood with the same zeal and high standards you have always demanded of yourself," Andre added. The best part of my journey in tennis is it led me to you, I'll be forever grateful for that." Athens Olympics spell death for 15000 dogs (Go To Top)

London: The Olympics mania might now end up claiming lives of almost 15,000 dogs in Athens. According to The Mirror, environmental experts fear that up to 15,000 stray dogs will be poisoned before next month's Athens Olympics to give the Greek city a "pristine" look. The report said that the authorities fear that the sight of the dogs roaming the streets might damage the country's chance to flaunt its modernity and civility. Greek animal welfare groups claim that the slaughter of the city's strays has already started. Eighty dogs have been reportedly found dead in Saronida, a coastal resort where members of the British team are expected to stay. "There's been a big increase in poisonings and we expect it to rise sharply," an animal welfare activist was quoted as saying. "We're seriously concerned thousands of dogs will be poisoned so Greece can show Athens is a pristine, modern city. It would be barbaric and would solve nothing," David Bowles of RSPCA International (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), was quoted as saying. "A lot of the local authorities don't know how to treat dogs humanely," he added.
