Taiwan unveils world's tallest building

     Taipei: Taiwan on Friday unveiled the world's tallest building, Taipei 101, after six years of construction and hailed the 508-metre skyscraper for resisting several powerful earthquakes in recent years. According to The News, the light green building, the brainchild of Taiwan's noted architect CY Lee, looks like petals of a flower unfolding or sections of a bamboo rising from the ground. The construction cost of the building worth 58 billion Taiwan dollars (1.8 billion US dollars).

Coldplay makes Kirsten Dunst cry (Go To Top)

     London: Coldplay's music seems to be the muse for Kirsten Dunst. Dunst revealed recently that she uses the band's melodies to help her cry while filming. "I listen to Coldplay songs to help me cry during a scene.Music definitely helps me in my acting," Femalefirst quoted her as saying.

     London: He might have been the king of rock and roll but Elvis Presley rules the roost when it comes to the most iconic hairstyle ever if a new survey commissioned by Argos is to be believed. According to The Sun, Elvis legendary quiff and sideburns came out as the top most hairstyle in the poll conducted on 1500 men. David Beckham came runner-up while Bob Marley's dreadlocks came third. Women prefer liposuction (Go To Top)

    London: A poll of more than 1,200 women carried out by Detoxil detox tablets has revealed that a quarter of women want liposuction to help them get rid of the extra pounds piled by them in the festive season. According to The Daily Mail, 26 per cent women said that the fat- sucking treatment would be their choice weight-loss method, while one in 10 would like to have their stomach flattened in the battle to beat the bulge. Food and dieting were at the forefront on most women's minds, with 34 per cent saying they thought about diets every single day. 12 per cent women said that they expected to gain over half a stone in Christmas and New Year, with 44 per cent predicting a 1- 3 stones gain and 36 per cent fearing putting on 4-6 pounds. The survey also found that women were affected in many areas of their life because of concerns about their weight. 67 per cent said they would have more sex if they felt more comfortable about their bodies. 31 per cent said they hated feeling out of breath when doing simple tasks, while 24 per cent disliked getting undressed in a public changing room. When asked about why they failed in their diet and detox efforts, over half of women blamed chocolate, followed by alcohol and takeaways food.

Shrek 2 reigns Australia (Go To Top)

    Sydney: The animated movie Shrek 2 was this year's biggest winner at the Australian box office. According to the Herald Sun, it grossed more than 50 million dollars to win over the likes of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (33 million dollars), The Lord of the Rings: and Spider- Man 2 (24 million dollars) at the Australian box office this year. Shrek 2's big box office (it made $18 million more than the original) also helped it become the highest grossing sequel in Australian history.
