Beckhams'
christening a sham, says church
London:
British church leaders have reportedly slammed the christening
ceremony of Victoria and David Beckham's sons as a mere
sham as the chapel was not consecrated by a bishop. The
Beckhams had built a special chapel worth 100, 000 pounds
in the grounds of their mansion in Hertfordshire for the
christening of their sons Romeo and Brooklyn, and though
the Bishop of Cork, the Reverend Paul Colton, was called
in for the ceremony, the local canons believe that the whole
ceremony was a show off. "The chapel is just a building.
It would require a bishop to consecrate it and they have
not done that," local Canon Robert Sibson, was quoted by
the Daily Mail, as saying. "I don't know the Bishop of Cork
at all and I don't know why he was called in. If none of
us locally knew, then that is a shame because when somebody
is christened into the Church, it should be the local church,"
Reverend Christopher Herbert added.

'Knight
Rider' inspired Orlando to act (Go

London:
Orlando Bloom has revealed that he owes his stardom
to David Hasselhoff because he was inspired by him to become
an actor. Orlando said that he idolised Hasselhoff as Michael
Knight in popular 80's show 'Knight Rider' and 'The A-Team'
in his younger days, but decided to venture into showbiz
himself when he discovered that his heroes were not real.
"As soon as I realised 'The A-Team' and 'Knight Rider' weren't
real, I decided I wanted to act because I thought I'd love
to be any number of those guys," Femalefirst quoted Orlando
as saying. Orlando has indeed created a niche for himself
in Hollywood, and has played a string of heroic roles, including
elf warrior Legolas in the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy,
Will Turner in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and boxing champion
Jimmy in 'The Calcium Kid'.
Spielberg's
'Transformers' robots to hit the screen (Go

Sydney:
Maverick film director Steven Spielberg is set to bring
one of the toy phenomenons of the 1980s to the big screen,
generating a booming adult collectors market for the robots
known as Transformers. According to The Advertiser, the
'Jaws' director has announced that he will follow next year's
'The War of the Worlds' with a live-action tale of the mechanical
heroes who disguise themselves as cars, trucks and jets.
Spielberg's announcement has prompted people in their mid-20s
to seek out the original Transformers toys, and they are
prepared to pay thousands of dollars to rekindle their childhood
memories. Susan Wardle of the Toy Collector at Ingle Farm
said that adult buyers had made Transformers one of the
store's most popular lines. "The big buyers are people aged
20 to 24, the people who were kids when the toys first came
out and still remember them. There's always a strong interest
in them and whatever we get in stock sells pretty much straight
away, especially the early, hard-to-get stuff," the report
quoted Wardle as saying. Stephen Jesson, who runs the web
site theyareamongus.com, said that many fans were building
on the modest collections they had as children. "In my mid-20s
I spent thousands of dollars on Generation One toys (but)
I sold my entire collection so I could go around the world
debt-free," he said. "I like to unwind not by cracking open
a beer but by breaking open the odd toy and escaping to
a place full of fun and imagination - no matter how childish
that seems to some," added Jesson.

Is
Nicole Kidman heading for a pay cut? (Go

Sydney:
Aussie actress' Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett have
sparked a debate whether a limit should be set by the Film
Finance Corporation, the country's main funding body, on
actors' fees for films it invests in. "Fees for directors,
writers and producers effectively have been capped for many
years, Why not for actors? ASDA's executive director Richard
Harris was quoted by Variety magazine, as saying. Emile
Sherman, who is one of the producers of a new film Candy,
that will star Heath Ledger, Abbie Cornish and Geoffrey
Rush, said the FFC should take a lead in setting limits
and decide what salaries were appropriate. However, not
everyone in the film industry is comfortable with the idea
of a salary limit. "We are a bit wary of blanket policies
of capping fees," Geoff Brown, who heads the Screen Producers
Association of Australia, was quoted as saying.
