Laloo's restaurant, a huge hit in Lucknow (Go To Top)

Lucknow: A restaurant named after Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav is turning out to be a huge hit here. Lalu Junction with an entire section on Laloo Prasad Yadav has been decorated to look like a typical railway junction. Complete with kiosks selling beetle leaves and cigarettes, the restaurant's waiters are dressed like coolies. Guests are served drinks in earthern cups and plastic plates. A live band performs popular Hindi film songs, which completes the look. Shamil Shamsi, the restaurant's manager, said they wanted to do something unique involving known personalities, and admits that though there are few Indians who are more shockingly famous than Yadav, the minister was still a major attraction from the public's point of view. "As Laloo Prasad Yadav is a very famous personality, we thought of opening a restaurant in his name and this food festival is getting popular because of him only. We have made the menu according to the names of various trains. We have the Punjab Mail butter chicken. Each city through which a train passes through, we name a popular dish from that region," Shamsi said. "This is very different and good. We have never been to such a place. Laloo is known for his individuality. He is also working hard in his ministry and working good," Vahir Kidwai, a visitor, added.

'Let Me Live', screams Britney Spears (Go To Top)

London: Britney Spears' next single 'My Prerogative', a version of Bobby Brown's 1988 hit, will be released as part of her forthcoming 'Greatest Hits' album on November 16 in America. According to Ananova, experts believe that the 'Toxic' star's decision to include 'My Prerogative' is a way of hitting back at the heightened media intrusion into her private life, especially in the wake of her decision to tie the knot with her dancer fiance Kevin Federline. The lyrics of the song goes, "Everybody's talking all this stuff about me, Why don't they just let me live, I don't need commission, Make my own decisions, That's my prerogative."

Gigolo boom in Bangkok (Go To Top)

London: Pleasures of the flesh may no longer be the exclusive preserve of men in Bangkok, with an increasing number of sex starved women spawning a new breed of gigolos to satiate their carnal desires. According to the Mirror, more and more women are taking to picking up male prostitutes from brothels in Thailand for safe, no-strings attached sex with men who are trained to satisfy women. The female sex tourists could be anywhere between 19-50 years old and pay upto 22 dollars for a night. The night usually starts with the women going to sex clubs, buying their chosen prostitute a drink, chatting with them and then taking them home. The prostitutes are regularly checked for HIV and are not allowed to show up at the club if found positive. They are also available for weeks or months on end if the tourists want. Being seen with a British woman is a prestige issue with these gigolos and often increases their demand in the market. "It's a real power trip, a lot of girls come out here looking for sex with a Thai man. This is safer than going round the bars and picking one up. It's something different. All the blokes pay for it so why can't we?", the report quoted a 19-year old visitor to a Bangkok club, Ruth Evans as saying. "I'd been in Bangkok for a week or so when a waiter approached me and asked me if I wanted to take him home. He was 22 years old and absolutely beautiful. He came with me and I paid him for four days. It's a nice business transaction. I know plenty of women here who are bored and horny-so they buy a boy for the night," added Gillian Kitrick, a 50-year old tourist from London.

Great granny's historical meteorite hit (Go To Top)

London: Getting a cut in the arm can also create history as in the case of a great granny who had a narrow escape when she was reportedly hit by a meteorite in her back garden. Pauline Aguss, 76, got a deep cut on her arm from a brown metallic rock while she was hanging out washing in her garden, reports The Sun. If the experts confirm that the rock, which hit Pauline, came from outer space, Pauline will go down in history as the first person in Britain to be hit by a meteorite. "I couldn't believe it when Jack found the rock on the grass.I was so relieved it hadn't hit me on the head. I could have been killed," she was quoted as saying. The walnut sized metallic rock is said to be travelling at 300mph when in hit Pauline, and reportedly belongs to the asteroid belt between Jupiter and Mars. "East Anglia seems the place for meteorites. However, they're pretty rare and the chances of being struck are tiny," Neil Bone of the British Astronomical Association , was quoted as saying.
