London:
The London leg of pop diva Madonna's `Re- invention'
tour has got off to a bad start with one of her crew falling
from a 30 foot high scaffold and breaking his arm and leg.
According to Ananova, the crew member was measuring the
dimensions of the stage as part of the preparations for
the concert at London's Earl's Court. He was subsequently
airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in White Chapel,
East London. "We received a call from Earl's Court at 1
p.m. to say that a man had fallen approximately 30ft," said
a spokesman. "An ambulance and an air ambulance were called
and crews were on the scene for around two hours because
there were difficulties moving the patient. His main injuries
appeared to be to his shoulder and arm," he added. "The
entire crew, performers and staff, especially Madonna, were
very saddened to hear about the accident but we are hopeful
that he will make a full recovery," Caresse Henry, Madonna's
manager, was quoted as saying. Madonna will begin her UK
tour in Manchester on August 14. She is scheduled to perform
at Earl's Court on August 18 and 19.
