         Washington: Maverick film-maker M. Night Shyamalan supernatural thriller, "The Village" has set cash registers ringing at the box-office. The movie has made collections worth approximately 50.8 million dollars at the box office last week. The film is about a village and its strange relationship with the creatures in the surrounding woods. The top 10's estimated earnings as released on Sunday by Exhibitor Relations include: 1. Beyonce shells out five million pounds for her London pad (Go To Top)

           Washington: Pop star Beyonce Knowles is reportedly planning to buy a five-bedroom house for five million pounds in the Chelsea section of London. According to Star magazine, Beyonce recently flew to London to make a bid on the sprawling mansion, which boasts of three luxurious bathrooms, a 30-foot double reception room, a 32-foot split-level garden and a home theatre with surround sound.

`Atomic Kitten' hires The Maldives to get married (Go To Top)

          London: Former Atomic Kitten Jenny Frost has set a date and hired an entire island in the Maldives to say 'I Do' to her DJ boyfriend Dom Thrupp. According to The Mirror, Jenny plans to spend a whopping 200,000 pounds on her lavish wedding ceremony that will take place in the coming winter. "It makes me want to cry with happiness when I think about my wedding, I'm so excited," said Jenny. A close friend of the singer revealed, "Jenny has always wanted to get married on a tropical island. And she feels her big day wouldn't be complete without her close friends and family around her." Therefore, the couple's 70 guests, including ex-bandmates Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon, will be flown to the Maldives.

         "It's pretty pricey and she didn't want anyone to be out of pocket so Jenny's offered to pay all the air fares. Her close family will even be treated to business class tickets. To get to the island from the main airport on Male you have to travel by seaplane. It's a minimum of 120 pounds per person return, so she'll be looking at around 8,500 pounds," added Jenny's pal. "Hiring the entire island in peak season is going to set Jen back a fortune. It'll cost 100 pounds minimum. And that's before you factor in the catering and the booze. As the island is so remote, everything has to be imported. That really pushes the price up. A bottle of champagne can set you back 100 pounds," the report quoted a source as saying. "She's getting ideas from stylists at her favourite label Dolce & Gabbana. She doesn't know whether to go high fashion or traditional," added the source.

JK Rowling to write 8th Potter book for charity (Go To Top)

          London: JK Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter series, has revealed that she will be writing an eighth book, the proceeds from which, will go to charity. According to The Sun, the book will not see the teen wizard embarking on a new adventure, instead it will include extracts from the first seven books and will be like a Potter Encyclopedia.

Knightly, Bloom all set for `Pirates of the Caribbean' sequels (Go To Top)

          London: British heartthrobs Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom are reportedly going to be busy with the simultaneous shooting of the second and the third parts of the 2003 blockbuster `Pirates of the Caribbean next year.' The two young stars will also be joined by Johnny Depp, who will reprise his role of the flamboyant pirate, Jack Sparrow. While Knightly and Bloom are expected to be paid 12.6 million dollars each for the movies, Depp is rumored to receive much more.

          London: Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt has been voted the sexiest man in the world. The 40-year old star beat many younger colleagues to get the top slot in an annual poll conducted by Company magazine. "It proves turning 40 and donning a leather skirt can do wonders for a man's sex appeal," Company Editor Victoria White was quoted as saying by The Sun.           London: The Material girl it seems is still popular among the Portugeese if the sales of the tickets to her shows are to be believed. According to Ananova, organisers had to arrange a second performance of Madonna after 16,000 tickets priced between 40 and 100 pounds for her one-night show in Lisbon were sold out in 10 hours flat. Concert promoter Musica no Coracao announced that Madonna would perform on September 13 and then a second show was added for September 14. Mos of the tickets for the second gig are also sold out.

Kylie breaks up with Olivier Martinez over his philandering ways (Go To Top)

         Sydney: Pop diva Kylie Minogue has reportedly split from her actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez after a heated row in a hotel restaurant in Paris. According to the Sunday Mirror, Kylie and Olivier were enjoying lunch at the posh 'Hotel de La Ponche' but the romantic lunch ended up in a big fight between the celebrity couple. A diner told the newspaper that Kylie looked very upset and there were tears in her eyes as she left the hotel. "Olivier looked furious as well. There were obviously serious issues between the pair of them," the report quoted the diner as saying. The 'Slow' star is believed to have checked out and left the hotel a couple of hours later but the French hunk stayed on for two more days. Meanwhile, a close friend of Kylie has revealed that she wanted commitment from the 'Unfaithful' star. "She's 36, her biological clock is ticking and she wants a serious relationship but it looks like he just wants to flirt, drink and party," she said. "She's had enough. After getting her old boyfriend James Gooding out of her system after their on/off relationship she really thought she'd found 'the one' in Olivier. Hilton's beau denies being behind her bruises (Go To Top)

          Washington: Pop star Nick Carter, who recently split with his girlfriend Paris Hilton, has denied reports that he was responsible for her bruised lips and arms and claims that she might have got injured during an S M photo shoot. Carter said that Hilton was scheduled to pose for celebrity photographer David LaChapelle, explaining, "It was going to be an S M shoot". The `Simple Life' reality star had recently surprised people at Hollywood's Concord Club, when she arrived with a swollen lip and bruised arms. Hilton has reportedly been telling her friends that Carter often loses his temper, and she was now scared to death. "He has major anger-management issues. We have seen bruises on her before and asked her about them. She has always denied it until now," rate the music quoted Hilton's pal as saying. Carter's lawyer, Marty Singer, has, however, denied his client's involvement in the alleged bruising.
