Becks
still the ad favourite
Washington:
If product endorsements are anything to go by, it seems
England football captain and Real Madrid star David Beckham
has not lost any of his mass appeal despite the recent sex
scandals hovering over him. Becks has been offered a 40
million-pound deal by razor blade Company Gillette to become
the face of the brand. The footballer who already endorses
products like Pepsi, Adidas and Vodafone will become the
highest paid celebrity in British advertising, if he accepts
the deal. "This deal goes to show the Beckham brand has
got even stronger after those recent scandals," Hello Magazine
quoted Trevor Beattie, chairman of ad agency TBWA/London,
as saying. "Before he was a perfect role model... now we
have seen he is human, too," he further added.
Waitress
sweeps Nicholas Cage off his feet (Go

London:
Love is very much in the air for Nicholas Cage. And
the lucky girl is Alice Kim, a 19-year old brunette who
works as a waitress at a LA restaurant, Sushi Avenue. According
to the Sun, cupid struck two months ago when Nic went for
a meal with his pals at the restaurant on Valentines's Day.
He was without a date and became so smitten with Alice during
the meal that he invited her to the Oscars with him the
following month. The Oscar-winning movie hunk then went
one step further and proposed to her with an enormous emerald
and diamond ring, which she accepted. Surprisingly, the
unlikely romance mirrors the plot of Cage's 1994 movie It
Could Happen To You, in which he played a lottery winner
who falls for a hard-up waitress. Cage has whisked Alice
off in his private jet for a series of romantic meals in
Chicago and New Orleans, where he has been filming. "Nic
has really fallen for this girl. She lives with her family
because she can't afford her own place. Alice loves the
ring Nic gave her and she was totally amazed by his actions.
She keeps pinching herself to check she's not dreaming,"
a friend was quoted as saying.
