UP Govt submits Taj scam report to apex
court
New
Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Government on Monday submitted
to the Supreme Court its departmental inquiry reports against
three top bureaucrats of the State, including former Chief
Secretary DS Bagga, accused in the Rs 175-crore Taj Heritage
Corridor scam. Copies of the reports were filed before a
three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice V N Khare following
a direction issued by the court last week. The court had
taken exception to the action of the State Government in
reinstating them on the ground that they had been exonerated
in the departmental inquiry. State Chief Secretary P K Dewan,
who had been summoned by the court, appeared today and submitted
copies of the reports. The court exempted him from personal
appearance in future and fixed April 28 as the next date
of hearing.
Tibetans
march on Panchen Lama's 15th birthday (Go
To Top)
Dharamshala:
Hundreds of Tibetan children living in Dharamsala took
out a protest march on the 15th birthday of their second
highest religious leader, a young boy, who they believe
is being held prisoner in China. The Panchen Lama, who turned
15 on Sunday, was chosen by Tibet's exiled leader the Dalai
Lama in 1995 but disappeared soon afterwards and has not
been seen in public since. Tibetans allege he is being held
as a political prisoner by China, which had invaded the
remote Himalayan region in 1950. China has promoted its
own candidate for the post, called as the "Beijing Lama",
considered by most Tibetans as an impostor.
