'Passion' to be screened in Israel

New York: Oscar winner Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of the Christ" may finally be screened in Israel after a Tel Aviv theatre decided to buck the prevailing anti-Passion sentiment. According to IMDb, the controversial film was earlier shunned by film distributors in Israel. Various groups have asserted that the film could promote anti-Semitism and members of the Israeli Knesset have urged that it should be banned. However, a spokesperson for the Tel Aviv Cinemateque has said that the theater finally decided to show the film because it received numerous calls expressing curiosity about it.
