Washington:
The star of 'Bend It Like Beckham', Parminder Nagra
may soon get the chance to meet her on-screen hero, David
Beckham because they have both been nominated for Emma Awards.
British actress Nagra has joined the England skipper on
the shortlist for this year's Ethnic Multi-Cultural Awards.
The annual prize giving recognises contributions made to
cross- cultural understanding in the UK. Parminder is in
the running for best actress, for her role in the British
TV series Second Generation, while the soccer sensation
is in line for the sports personality of the year title.
"David Beckham plays an important role in today's multi-cultural
Britain not only as an icon, but also as an inspiration
to young people of all cultures," the Hello quoted a spokesman
as saying. However, the race for best male actor looks set
to be a close-run thing, with EastEnders Gary Beadle going
up against Holby City's Art Malik and Casualty star Kwame
Kwei-Armah. The hopefuls also include Chiwetel Ejiofor,
from Love Actually, and Hustle's Adrian Lester. Meanwhile,
Beyonce joins Missy Elliott, Outkast, The Black Eyed Peas
and Norah Jones on the shortlist for best international
music act. The lifetime achievement award will go to Bruce
Lee for his high- kicking contribution to cross-cultural
understanding.

New
York: It seems Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not
only playing couple in "reel" life, but in "real" life too.
According to Star magazine, the Hollywood hunk and the Oscar-
winning actress are starring as a married couple in the
upcoming "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". Despite continuous denials
from their representatives, rumours have been swirling about
a budding romance between Pitt and the "Tomb Raider" star
ever since workers at Downtown L.A. Standard hotel began
telling friends they'd seen Pitt and Jolie "making out"
in the lounge area over the weekend. "Whether it was part
of a movie scene, rehearsal or something else, no one really
knows," said a source. However, Pitt's representative Cindy
Guagenti said, "Brad and Angelina have gotten close because
they've been working together, but that's it".

London:
Princess Diana's mother, Frances Shand Kydd, is reported
to be suffering from a degenerative brain disease and was
admitted to a hospital in Oban earlier this week. Even as
the on-going controversy over the screening of Diana's pictures
by CBS continued, her brother Earl Spencer and sister Lady
Sarah McCorquodale arrived at the hospital on Friday. The
68-year old grandmother of Prince Harry and William used
to live alone in a detached bungalow on the Scottish Island
of Seil. Since the past few months she could not walk without
the aid of a helper and her health had deteriorated drastically
according to The Mirror. The hospital confirmed she is a
patient there but refused to comment on her condition. However
Lady Sarah said her mother was making "good progress".
