Three people died as communal clashes broke out in Mysore in Karnataka on Thursday over attempts to build a mosque on disputed land. A pig's carcass was found by the mosque officials on Wednesday night which apparently incited the violence. Police had to teargas the mob.

Mysore: The Rapid Action Force (RAF) staged flag march in the riot-hit areas of Mysore in Friday. The flag march was taken out day after three persons died in communal violence at a religious site. Two companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) were summoned from Coimbatore to stage the flag march in Udaygiri, Kyatamaranahalli, Mandi and Narasima Raja Colony. Mysore remains tense with many shops and educational institutions closed. The city's police commissioner has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in the areas that witnessed violence yesterday. According to Mysore Deputy Commissioner P. Manivannan "The situation is peaceful, and no untoward incident has been reported since Thursday evening. 300 Rapid Section Force (RAF) personnel have been stationed in the troubled areas." "We held meetings with the peace committees set up to restore confidence in the people. The committee members have assured us they will maintain communal harmony and peace," Manivannan said. Manivannan clarified that construction of a mosque in a disputede area caused the violence in which three people died. A pig's carcass was found by the mosque officials on Wednesday night which apparently incited the violence. Police had to resort to teargas shelling to disperse the mob.
