Mumbai
attack boat 'Kuber' ready to sail back
|
Kuber, the boat used by Pakistan-based terrorists
to reach Mumbai and launch the attack of 26/11,
is ready to sail into the waters off Saurashtra
with the start of the fishing season. The Kuber
was seized by the Crime Branch of the Mumbai police
for its role in Mumbai terror attack.

Porbander:
MV Kuber, the fishing trawler that the Indian Government
says militants of the Mumbai attacks used to reach the
metropolis, has been repaired and is all set to sail
back to Porbander in Gujarat. Hira Masani, owner of
the boat said that the boat was in a dilapidated condition
and several parts including its engine were to be repaired.
After repair, the boat is all set to sail. "All necessary
things like diesel and ration are available in the required
quantity. Other security measures like GPS and DAT are
also installed in the boat. Fish finder for fishermen
is also installed in the boat. Now, Kuber is back in
water for fishing, but I pray to god that incidents
that happened with it never get repeated with any other
boat," said Masani. The owner is now waiting for the
clearance from the customs and fisheries department.
'Kuber' would join over 500 fishing boats, which set
sail in the waters of Saurashtra coastline with the
onset of fishing season on August 15. India said that
the militants who came from Karachi spent 36 hours on
the Kuber after it was hijacked in the Arabian Sea in
Pakistani waters and abandoned close to the Mumbai coast.
The militants finally reached the Mumbai shore in rubber
dinghies. The journey by militants in Kuber was violent
as they allegedly killed the boat's Captain Amarsing
Solanki. His body with hands tied and throat slit was
found on the boat. Indian investigating authorities
termed the recovery of Kuber as a major breakthrough
which provided the first piece of evidence against Pakistan.
Belongings of the gunmen and a satellite phone were
recovered from the trawler. They find a mention in the
evidence documents and the dossier sent to Pakistan.
