Krakow ( Poland ): While the visit of the President Pratibha Devisingh
Patil to Poland may have its diplomatic importance, for a lot of women of Indian
origin here it has added unforgettable moments to their lives. Patils's arrival
in Krakow was a thrilling experience for the non-resident Indian (NRI) women,
to see the first Indian woman President visiting Poland. On Saturday, the President
landed in Krakow airport of Poland, the last stopover of her week-long tours to
Spain and Poland , the two important countries of Europe. Jerry Miller, the Governor
of district Malopolska, received the President at Krakow Airport . President Patil
along with her high-level delegation then visited the historic Jagiellonian University
here. The President was welcomed by Karol Musiol headmaster of the Jagiellonian
University , with the other officials. During her visit to the University the
President met with the Indian community residing in Poland. The NRI women audience
looked quite ecstatic to have the first woman President of India among them. There
are nearly a thousand Indians residing in Poland and most of them are in service
in different sectors in Poland. "She is the first woman President of India and
I am thrilled to see her so near and moreover in my city," said Amrita Ray, a
student of medicine in the Europe 's second oldest university. "No one believes
here that we have a woman President in India, I corrected them and invited them
to come here and see our President, said Ms. Dass, a research scholar in Bio technology,
and added that having a lady President is an honour, privilege and a matter of
pride. At the university, there were a few Polish students learning Hindi in the
university. Marjina, one such Polish student doing post graduation in Hindi said
that she along with her friends had long been waiting for this event. "It makes
me very proud to have somebody like her, the first lady of India is in our University."
