opulence dazzles fashion enthusiasts in New Delhi          New
Delhi: Bridal opulence ruled the ramp as designer Varun
Bahl put up a splendid show of his bridal wear collection at
New Delhi on Saturday. Bahl's collection was part of the 'Chivas
in Fashion Tour '08'. Traditional and ethnic was the order of
the day as models sashayed the ramp in richly embellished and
heavily embroidered outfits in colours of gold, maroon, orange,
red. Saris, lehengas, suits, all traditional Indian outfits
worn by a bride stole the show with their sheer magnificence.
Bahl designed the collection keeping in mind the bridal season,
which is on in full swing in India. "I showcased my Indian collection
keeping in mind the current the mood of the season it's a festive
season, bridal season. So I showcased my bridal collection today.
It is something which the people need right now and want to
see," said Bahl. Meanwhile, in complete contrast was designer
Wendell Rodrick's collection 'Romantica' which stood out for
its minimalism and simplicity. Feminine dresses in white and
pastel colours set the ramp on fire with their light and fluid
look. "My collection was called 'Romantica'. Very light, very
minimal, very fluid and our trademark is simplicity. We wanted
to give a collection that was pure and clean, without any embroidery,"
said Rodricks. As a part of the Chivas tour 15 prominent Indian
designers will travel to five different cities to showcase their
creations. Chivas Fashion Tour 2008 will culminate with a grand
finale, which will be held in Dubai on November 22.
