Flower show in Bangalore

        Bangalore: Thousands of visitors thronged an ongoing weeklong flower show in India's southern Bangalore city that kicked off to a colourful start earlier this week. The historic Lalbagh park in Bangalore is blooming with hundreds of varieties of flowers, ornamental plants, bonsais, and medicinal plants. Hundreds of nurseries from in and around Bangalore are participating in the event, which on an average draws over 50,000 visitors each day. "Actually nature is great and beautiful, it is something really wonderful, and there are no words to explain what it is...Being a visitor it is great pleasure, if you want to reduce your stress levels or if you want to enjoy the nature. People from all walks of life come here and enjoy here. If you just come here you forget all your worries, and being in a metropolitan you forget all the stress and strain," said Raman, a visitor. The visual extravaganza has been organised by the Karnataka state horticulture department. The show aims at bringing people together to enjoy the nature and know more about the variety of flowers and plants grown in and around the city. "Lot of people come, more than 3 to 400,000 people come here to witness each year. Our show is unique because it has got more collection. This time the new thing is that flower decorations is there, home medicines are there, horticulture crops are there, rural development through horticulture is displayed. Then there are gardens, which are developed by physically and mentally handicapped children," said G.K. Vasanth Kumar, Director of Horticulture, Karnataka.
