Ludhianvis take to Arabian cuisine

Ludhiana: How much do we Indians know about Arabian or Caribbean culture, music or cuisine? Ludhiana's Majestic Park Plaza recently surprised many by hosting a seductive belly dance, live cooking of authentic cuisine and a sizzling evening. A belly dancer entertained diners at the Terrace Grill. Visitors were also treated to mouth-watering Arabian and Caribbean cuisine. The soft lights and logwood seating added to the ambience. Terrace Grill General Manager Arun Jae said, "Rightly, Ludhiana is a very small town. But there are people who travel worldwide, there are people who have seen the best of the things happening in the world and to match those we have to keep on doing something or the other which likely suits their palate lightly". Hotels do not think twice about inviting foreign performers and chefs. Guests in Ludhiana are now being entertained by Poland's Tradez Trio and a Scottish troupe that performed a hip-shaking Bollywood-inspired rendition. Call it an exchange of culture or food, or the impact of globalisation, the whole world has become a family here. Bindia Chaudhary, a visitor said, "I feel we Punjabis are taking this change in our stride and the gap between the East and the West is becoming less day by day. Everybody around is accepting the new cuisine and new culture. I hope we take the good things of the new culture". The Punjabi dances and its culture remain a big fascination for people around the world. These dances are normally performed at times of celebration the most prominent being at Punjabi weddings. The particular background of the dances can be non-religious and religious. They are particularly attractive to the viewers whether they be of Punjabi heritage or not, the allure is considered universal. Punjabi dances are designed for either men or women.
