An Attempt to Exploit NRI Sentiments

-by RM Nair

Mitr My Friend is a debut film by national award winner actress Revathy. For 16 years into entertainment, Revathy has also won five Filmfare awards for Best Actress in Tamil films.

Mitr My Friend is a story about an NRI family settled in the US for 18 years: a film about family and friends, of how one's family becomes one's best friend. The film has been shot in California's Silicon Valley to give a natural touch of an NRI family's life

Nasir and Preeti in Mitr

A veteran model Nasir Abdullah and an award-winning actress Shobana are in the main lead of the film. "I don't like to dance around the trees. I need something substantial to perform", said Nasir. He has performed in the film Dil Ashna Hai, and famous TV opera Swabhimaan.

Shobana has been a front-runner in Malayalam cinema for almost a decade, besides being a noted exponent of classical dance. "It was a great experience to work with Rewathy', Shobana tells newsmen.

Another actress is debutant Preeti Vissa. She plays the role of 18-year old Divya in the film. "I took Preeti since she is an NRI and for that role I required a US-born girl because their postures as well as gestures are different from an Indian girl", clarifies Revathy. Preeti is also trained in classical dance in America. The film has been dubbed in Hindi also.
