IAF deploys 'Garud' commandos at Aero India 2007
Bangalore:
The ongoing Aero India at the Yelahanka air base
has been declared a high security zone and special
elite commandos have been deployed to protect the
air show from any possible terrorist attack. The action
has been taken as a precautionary measure as the city
is on the radar of many terrorist organisations. The
Indian Air Force's (IAF) special commando force, Garud,
has taken vantage positions and is guarding the place.
The special forces have been deployed to specifically
protect VIPs and elite delegates of the US and Israel
. Commanding Officer- IAF Garud Special Forces, Squadron
Leader B Ravindranath, said they commandos have been
trained to tackle any untoward situation. The commandos
are trained to face any kind of guerrilla techniques,
he said. The team has been trained to be equally efficient
on land, in air and in water. They have also been
provided with heavy artillery and are skilled to react
to any disaster within seconds. Security forces have
left no stone unturned to make sure that Asia 's largest
air show, Aero India 2007 passes off smoothly, without
any terror related incident.
