Cop arrested for alleged link in Kingfisher ticketing scam

Mumbai: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police has arrested a suspended police inspector for his alleged role in a multi-crore e-ticketing scam, involving Kingfisher Airlines tickets. Mumbai Police had suspended Assistant Inspector Tushar Ramesh Kadam in January after the EOW had sent a confidential report regarding his role. Kadam has become the 18th accused to be arrested in the Rs.140 million scam. He has been sent to police custody till April 23 and has been charged under IPC Sections 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating) and 212 (harbouring an offender). Police found that Kadam had even purchased several plots in his wife Suwarna Kadam's name using credit cards. Jaimatrubhumi Foundation for charitable and educational purposes, which is being run by Kadam, has also attracted police attention.
