CCEA approval for new terminal at Ahmedabad airport
New
Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs
(CCEA) today gave the go-ahead for the construction
of a new international terminal building at Ahmedabad
airport by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The construction will be carried out at an estimated
cost of Rs.290.92 crore with a foreign exchange component
of Rs.27.35 crore in two phases-- Phase I - Rs.195.92
crore and Phase-II Rs. 95.00 crore). On completion
of the project, the capacity of the international
terminal at the peak hour passenger traffic will enhance
to 800 Arrivals and 800 Departures. The Phase-I project
is expected to be completed in 18 months. The CCEA
also gave its approval for sanction of estimated expenditure
of Rs.1221 crore for construction of 8955 houses and
other community facilities for the tsunami affected
people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Another
important decision take by the committee at its meeting
here today was fixing the SMP of sugarcane for the
2007-08 sugar season at Rs.81.18 per quintal for a
basic recovery rate of nine per cent subject to a
premium of Rs.0.90 for every 0.1 percentage point
increase in the recovery above that level. The decision
was taken on the recommendations of Commission for
Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP).
