New
Delhi: A crucial meeting of empowered Group of
Ministers on restructuring Delhi and Mumbai airports
today remained inconclusive. It was chaired by Defence
Minister Pranab Mukherjee and attended by Finance

and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. Emerging
from the meeting, Patel said, "The meeting remained
inconclusive because of want of time. Several issues
were discussed but no final decision has been taken."
The GoM was called to finalise the request for proposal
(RFP) document meant for technical and financial bidding
by nine private consortia, a television channel report
said. The RFP document would list the requirements
of new facilities on the civil side of the two airports,
besides the additional task of slum clearance for
expansion of Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport.
On the basis of the response received on these documents
the joint venture partners of the Airports Authority
of India would be shortlisted for Delhi and Mumbai

India
invites global players for aviation outsourcing (Go

Bangalore:
With Bangalore sky becoming a sound theatre of
roaring jets during ongoing Aero India show, India
has called the global aviation companies to take advantage
of its low cost, high talent workforce and infrastructure
for building aircraft and systems for the global market.
"It (Aero India) is an ideal forum to explore business
opportunities, as well as to facilitate joint ventures,
collaborations, tie-ups for mutual benefit. We can,
together, reduce the development and marketing costs,
jointly develop state-of-the-art aviation products
and do joint marketing," said Defence Minister Pranab
Mukherjee. According to him, the presence of over
352 aerospace firms including 225 foreign aircraft
and defence systems firms - Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed
Martin, BAe Systems, MiG and Dassault, at the fifth
Aero India show is testimony to the opportunities
that India offers for joint ventures, technology transfer
and co- production for the global market. Proposals
are in the pipeline to buy 126 supersonic fighters
for Indian Air Force and 50 passenger jets worth seven
billion dollar for Air India. The five-day event at
the Yelahanka Air Base, 25 kilometres from Bangalore,
started with an amazing formation of three Indian
Air Force Mi 8 helicopters in the national tricolour
and ensigns of the IAF. A low-speed composite formation
of three aircraft -- the home grown Advanced Light
Aircraft, the Kiran trainer and the awesome Sukhoi-30
Mki - flying at a low altitude, gave the audience
a taste of things to come, as it was followed by the
intermediate jet trainer, the indigenous aircraft
being built to train IAF pilots for Stage II training.
