October 10, 2012 | Uttarakhand promotes adventure sports training as a career option | Nainital (Uttarakhand): The Department of Tourism in Uttarakhand organised a five-day long adventure sports training programme to promote it as a career option among the youth. The District Adventure Sports Officer of Nainital, Lata Bisht, said they started the training programme to guide students and to help them determine the direction of the wind and ensure that all possible steps are taken to prevent any accident from taking place. “The aim of this camp is to encourage youth towards adventure sports and to show them direction if they are willing to choose this field as their career,” she said. Bisht added that such activities should be promoted
more, as it would provide a boost to the industry. During paragliding, one gets a breathtaking aerial view of the city and the surrounding mountains. Students participating in the camp said they were quite excited and this will help them, if they wish to choose it as their career. “Such sports are a part of our life and we can also choose them as our career in the future. It is useful for our future, and we can enhance our skills with such experiences,” said Mariyam, a trainee student. The camp is being organised from October 9 to 12. |
