Royal Rajasthan on Wheels rolls out from Delhi

     New Delhi: The Royal Rajasthan on Wheels super luxury train rolled out on its first commercial journey for this year to Rajasthan and other destinations, especially for Khajuraho, Varanasi and Agra from the Safdarjung Railway station in New Delhi on Monday.

In the first trip, 61 tourists are traveling. This initiative is a concrete step towards marking the presence of the state in railway tourism, for which Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and State Tourism Minister Bina Kak are working tirelessly. Randeep Dhankhar, Chairman, Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, informed that after the grand success of Palace on Wheels, which is a joint venture between the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and the Indian Railways, they started the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels super luxury train service from 2008. He said that in the 64 trips since 2008, a total of 2358 tourists have traveled in this train. An amount of Rs.31 crore 73 lakh has been earned from this service till now, he added.

Pramod Sharma, General Manager, RTDC, in New Delhi and S.S. Shekhawat, General Manager (RROW), said the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels takes tourists on a seven days and eight nights tour through Rajasthan. The train starts from New Delhi's Safdarjang Railway Station and stops in Jodhpur, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh), Udaipur, Bharatpur and Varanasi and Agra(Uttar Pradesh) before returning to New Delhi on the eighth day of its itinerary for October 2012-March 2013 period. The train has a spa and a gym for passengers. It has the capacity of carrying 82 passengers at one time with one Super Deluxe Saloon, thirteen Deluxe Saloons and two restro-lounges.

The Palace on Wheels starts its journey on every Wednesday between September and April, whereas the RROW runs every Sunday between October and April from Delhi. The RROW is designed and embroidered in a contemporary royal style to experience a taste of royalty and enjoy a royal feast onboard, where every moment is woven together into an everlasting and immemorial experience.

The magic of the splendid journey to the land of kings, majestic forts, incredible palaces, temple towns, diverse cultures and varied landscapes starts from Delhi. Discover the adventurous escapades to the wilds of Ranthambore, experience the magic of Udaipur , get a glimpse of the art and sculpture of the temples of Khajuraho, breathe in the spirituality of Varanasi and see the wonder of the world at Agra . It is supposedly an upgraded version of the fabulous Palace on Wheels. The RROW offers a spectacular voyage that conjures the romance of the ‘ Land of Maharajas ’. With interiors adorned with ethnic artworks the train recreates the ambience of the personal carriages used by the erstwhile kings.

A weeklong tour aboard Royal Rajasthan on Wheels offers an enchanting experience illumining the rich heritage and regal past of Rajasthan. The train has 14 passenger coaches with two types of accommodation – two Super Deluxe Saloon at a tariff of USD 1600 per suite per night and three Deluxe Saloons at a tariff of USD 590 for twin sharing and USD 825 for single occupancy.
