Restoration experts inspect ailing Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya

Bodh Gaya (Bihar): A team of Forest Research Institute (FRI) scientists inspected the ailing Bodhi tree here recently. The team has been working with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to restore the tree. Interacting with media persons, the head of forest pathology at FRI, NSK Harsh, informed, “We began this exercise in 2007 and we come here three to four times every year.” He added that the main problem at the site was accumulation of water and its seepage into the roots. “Water gets collected, because devotees come here and pour water. We want to make an outlet for water to come out," he said.
