Third Mughal Road Car Rally flagged off from Srinagar

     Poonch/ Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): The third edition of the annual Mughal Road Car Rally was flagged off by the state’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, from the banks of the Dal Lake in Srinagar. The three-day car rally that commenced on Saturday will cover 600 kilometres, passing through the Mughal Road and will explore the picturesque locales of the Himalayas , before concluding at Bafliaz Point. The rally has attracted 67 participants this year. A participant, Gaurav Gill, described journey as adventurous and challenging. “Sixty seven cars of different types are participating in the rally. We are driving Mahindra SUV but there are Maruti, Tata and many more cars participating in the rally,” Gill said. Shamshir Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) said such motor sports promote adventure tourism in the border districts, which are yet to be explored. “This car rally along the Mughal Road will boost the tourism and benefit locals,” Hussain said. Big teams from Indian motor giants like Mahindra, Tata and Maruti are participating in the rally that starts from the foothills passing though Pir Panchal mountain range. The rally will end in Srinagar through Kishtwar on Monday.
