June 11, 2012 | Situation being reviewed to ensure safety of Amarnath pilgrims: Home Ministry | New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday informed that the government is aware of the concerns of pilgrims for the timely commencement of the annual pilgrimage
to the Amarnath Shrine and is reviewing the situation keeping in mind the safety
of the pilgrims. "All necessary steps are being taken in this regard," said a
Ministry of Home Affairs release. Special Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs
had made an aerial visit by helicopter on June 4 and 5 of the pilgrimage route.
At that point, the route was covered in snow in a number of places. Jammu and
Kashmir Governor N N Vohra is visiting Pahalgam today and Baltal tomorrow to review
the situation personally. The Governor had earlier reviewed the situation on June
