March 5, 2019
TEL AVIV: The Israeli airline, Arkia, will introduce direct flights to Goa
and Kochi from this September, company officials said. These are favourite destinations for Israelis as there are many old Jewish settlements there.
Arkia is Israel's second largest airline.
The airline said the sale of tickets for the flights will begin on March 24.
Weekly Goa flights will be on Tuesdays and the bi-weekly flights to Kochi will
be on Mondays and Fridays.
A ticket to Kochi would cost $250 and for Goa at $300. The flight duration
will be seven hours, according to airlines spokesperson Orly Peleg-Mizrahi.
"The launch of direct flight from Delhi to Tel Aviv has been a massive success
with an increase of almost 60 per cent in the number of tourists visiting Israel
from India in the last two years," Lydia Weitzman, Foreign Press Adviser to
the Ministry of Tourism, told newsmen.
Air India had introduced direct flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv last year.
Israeli national carrier El Al has been operating direct flights between Mumbai
and Tel Aviv.
