New York: A flight had to be aborted and the plane made emergency landing after passengers complained of ear pain and discomfort due to depressurisation in
the cabin. The Boeing 737 aircraft had 139 passengers. The Southwest Flight
to Tampa in Florida from Connecticut returned to Hartford. Medics reached the
plane and they treated the injured. One passenger was bleeding from the ears.
The plane that had to turn around faced problems soon after takeoff, after
an hour of being airborne. "Flight #1694 with scheduled service between Bradley
International Airport (BDL) and Tampa Bay (TPA) experienced a pressurization
issue shortly after takeoff," Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Ro Hawthorne told
USA TODAY. "Our flight crew followed proper procedures and returned to BDL,
where it landed safely. Several customers among the 139 onboard were treated
for injuries and discomfort by local paramedics."
"We removed the aircraft from service and continued customer’s travel with
another aircraft," he said. The airlines stated it has removed the aircraft
from service. The incident happened early this month.
