VARANASI, Oct 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the RJ Sankara Eye
Hospital in Varanasi on Sunday. The hospital is set up by Sankara Nethralaya
of Chennai as a unit of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust. It is also named
after entrepreneur the late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.
The Prime Minister thanked Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadipathi Jagadguru Sri Shankaracharya
Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal for blessing the occasion.
The Prime Minister recalled his association with the Sankara Eye Foundation
of Chennai since his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat when he inaugurated
the Sankara Eye Hospital there in the presence of the then Kanchi Kamakoti Peethadipathi
Jagadguru Sri Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal.
He recalled receiving the blessings of the previous Peetadipathi Jagadguru
Sri Shankaracharya Chandrashekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal, the guru of Param
Pujya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal.
Referring to the day’s occasion, the Prime Minister said that it is a matter
of personal satisfaction being associated with three paramparas of Kanchi Peetham.
