Amit Shah admitted to AIIMS again
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been admitted to the AIIMS for a second time, for check-up. Earlier he was admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on August 2 for covid treatment. Meanwhile, former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, who had been in the AIIMS for over a week, died on Sunday. The 74- year-old had tested positive for coronavirus over a month ago.

NEW DELHI, Sept 13: Union Home Minister Amit Shah was on Saturday admitted to the AIIMS in Delhi for a second time in a month's time. He was treated for coronavirus at the Medanta Hospital previously.

He has been admitted for 1-2 days for a complete medical check-up as Parliament session begins on Monday, hospital sources said.

In an official statement on Sunday, the AIIMS said: "Shri Amit Shah, Honourable Home Minister was discharged from AIIMS, New Delhi, after post Covid care on August 30. As per advise given at discharge, he has now been admitted for complete medical checkup before parliament session for 1-2 days."

The 55-year-old BJP leader had tested positive for coronavirus. He was admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on August 2 for covid treatment and later at AIIMS on August 18 after he complained of "fatigue and body ache". He had left the AIIMS after 13 days on August 31.

The monsoon session of Parliament begins on Monday.

India recorded its biggest single-day surge of 97,570 new patients on Saturday.

Former Union Minister and Bihar leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh dies

Meanwhile, former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, who had been in the AIIMS for over a week and was put on ventilator on Friday, died on Sunday. The 74-year-old had tested positive for coronavirus over a month ago.

He was the Minister for Rural Development in the first term of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government. He resigned from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) a few days ago.
