LAHORE, Oct 15: Over 200 decomposed bodies have been found on the roof of a
hospital in Punjab province of Pakistan. Sources said large salwars found on
some bodies and the strong physique of most of them indicated they were Baluchs
and Pashtuns. Categorised as of missing these bodies were supplied to the Government
medical college hospital by the police, it is reported. Most bodies were found
opened and possibly the vital organs extracted. Videos have been circulating
on social media since Friday.
An investigation has been launched by Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi. A
six-member team, led by healthcare secretary Muzamil Bashir, will conclude the
investigation in three days.
According to Dr Mariam Ashraf, Nishtar Medical University's Anatomy Department
head, police were to blame for the piling up of bodies and the hospital could
not refuse to receive the bodies.
Unconfirmed reports said the victims were abducted by armed forces from Balochistan
and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces of Pakistan.
The scam came to light when a Chief Minister's aide visited the hospital, Punjab
Nishtar Hospital in Multan.
There have been several reports of thousands of Baluchs and Pashtuns going
missing in the recent past.
Baluch separatist leaders have called for an international probe, indicating
that people from rebel areas were kidnapped and shown as missing, massacred
and supplied for organ trade.
Baloch rebels have been battling the security forces for long for independence.
