Xi Jinping under house arrest, military stages coup in China?

Xi Jinping is said to have been harbouring an ambition of life-long President like Vladimir Putin of Russia in the midst of a looming economic crisis and a pandemic gone out of control. Ex-President Hu Jintao and former Prime Minister Wen Jiabao are said to have plotted his ouster.

BEIJING, Sept 24: A President over-ambitious for a life-long Chinese leadership like his counterpart in Russia, Xi Jinping is under house arrest and the military is controlling Beijing streets. Flights and trains to and fro the Capital are suspended. Rumours, which could not be substantiated, are doing the rounds in the social media that a coup had taken place as soon as he landed at the airport after the Samarkand SCO summit and the military is in control of the State.

The only verifying evidence is, some reports quoting flight tracking site flightradar24 data to show that Beijing International Airport has come to a standstill with most flights cancelled apparently. Therefore it is confirmed that something weird is happening around China.

Ex-President Hu Jintao (79) and a former Prime Minister Wen Jiabao (80), who are by nature both mellowed and moderate, persuaded Song Ping, a former member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to seize control of the Central Guard Bureau (CGB), which looks after the security of the President as also the Standing Committee (top party members), from Xi, when he was away in Samarkand in Uzbekistan for the SCO summit last week.

It is said Hu and Wen conspired to remove Xi as the people are disenchanted with the policies and performances of the President. The economy is on a nosedive as many foreign companies have left the Chinese soil and relocated elsewhere. The covid pandemic still forces lockdown in many parts of the country even as the rest of the world has got rid of the pestilence. Moreover, it has long been speculated that Xi is trying a third term in office as the CPC congress is meeting in October. He is said to harbour an ambition of life-long President like Vladimir Putin of Russia.

The party had removed the Constitution’s two-term limit for the presidency in 2018.

It is speculated that Xi (69) was put under house arrest at Zhongnanhai in Beijing where the headquarters of the Communist Party is located, on September 16 as soon as he arrived at the airport after attending the SCO summit in Samarkand. The 2022 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit was held on September 15 and 16 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The SCO is the world's largest regional organization covering approximately 60% of the area of Eurasia and consists of 8 member-States.
