MUMBAI, Jan 11: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted to the ICU
of Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai with covid. She had tested positive on Saturday for
covid and is also having pneumonia. She had celebrated her 92nd birthday last
September.
A team of expert doctors headed by Dr Pratit Samdhani is taking care of Mangeshkar.
Her niece Rachna Shah has stated that the singer is "recovering" and is in
a "stable" condition.
“We cannot go to see Didi as it is a covid case. There are sufficient doctors
and nurses there, though. The doctors have said that they would keep her for
an extra day or two because of her age,” her sister Usha Mangeshkar was quoted
as saying to TOI.
Her spokesperson informed ETimes, "Lata didi showed mild covid symptoms. So
she has been kept in ICU under observation at the Breach Candy hospital as a
precautionary measure. The family requests the media to let Lata didi rest and
recover and come back home soon."
The ‘Nightingale of India’ is the eldest of four siblings - Asha Bhosle, Meena
Khadikar, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar.

The singer is the recipient of several awards like Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan,
Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award and several National Film Awards.
Lata Mangeshkar has been in the field of music since the age of 13. She has
been an inspiration for generations, especially women, and has recorded thousands
of songs, in 20 Indian languages. She has been active on the social media.
