AHMEDABAD, Jan 10: A Pakistani fishing boat with 10 crew members has been seized
from the Indian waters in the Arabian sea off the Gujarat coast by the Indian
Coast Guard. The boat, ‘Yaseen,’ was intercepted by the coast guard vessel ‘Ankit’
during patrol on Saturday night.
The boat was seized when its crew failed to justify their presence in Indian
waters, the ICG said in a release.
The boat, when challenged, tried to escape towards the Pakistani waters. The
boat, registered at Keti Bandar in Pakistan, had on board 2,000 kg of fish and
600 litres of diesel. The boat is being towed to Porbandar for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday seized an abandoned Pakistani
boat near the border outpost in Ferozepur district of Punjab, reports HT. Many
drones have also recently been spotted coming from from Pakistan side. The wooden
boat was spotted by the personnel belonging to the 136 Battalion during patrol
duty near the DT Mall border outpost along the international border, the report
said.
