NEW DELHI, Dec 15: The Delhi-Kathmandu bus service resumed from the Ambedkar
Bus Terminal in Delhi at 10 am on Wednesday after remaining suspended since
March 2020 due to the covid pandemic. The passengers will have to strictly follow
the covid guidelines like vaccination, RT-PCR test, wearing of face mask etc.
The passengers should produce a certificate of full vaccination as well as
a negative RT-PCR report obtained within 72 hours of the start of the journey
to board the bus, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has stated.
The Delhi-Kathmandu bus service will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays. The bus will start from Kathmandu on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The ticket fare has been increased from the pre-pandemic Rs 2,300 to Rs 2,800.
The DTC has a tie-up with Skyline India (Motors) Private Limited to run the
service. There will be customs checking at Sanauli on the border.
The service, also known as the Maitri Bus Sewa, which started in November 2014,
covers a distance of 1,167 km.
The bus service between Siliguri in Bengal and Kathmandu in Nepal had resumed
on November 9. A 45-seater bus carried the passengers for Kathmandu via Kakarvita,
Lalgarh and Naubis. The service to Kathmandu will be available on Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Saturdays. It starts at 3 pm. The ticket fare is Rs 1,500 per
head.
