BENGALURU, Oct 20: Twenty seven people were arrested in Bengaluru on Wednesday for betting in Indian Premier League (IPL) and seized Rs 78 lakh from them.

The betting was on the final match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. The online inter-State racket operated from a hotel in Bengaluru, the police said. Those arrested included natives of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa and Maharashtra. The police said huge amounts were being collected in the betting.

Further investigation is being carried out. The police also seized laptops and electronic gadgets used in the betting in the raid conducted at the hotel.

Two weeks back, Delhi police had arrested two persons on similar charges.
