Under the influence of the cyclonic storm Nargis,
rain/thundershower is likely at many places with isolated heavy falls in Andaman
& Nicobar islands during the next 48 hours. Heat wave conditions prevailed over
some parts of north Rajasthan, north Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, east Uttar
Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh and isolated pockets of Jammu division of Jammu
& Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Vidarbha. No significant change in the maximum temperature
is likely over northwest and central India during the next 2-3 days. However,
the current meteorological analysis suggests that maximum temperatures are likely
to increase over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh and north
Andhra Pradesh by 2-3°C during the period. The highest maximum temperature of
45.8°C in the country was recorded at Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh). Isolated
rain/thundershower is likely in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the
next 24 hours and mainly dry weather thereafter; isolated duststorm/thunderstorm
is likely in the rest of the region till tonight and mainly dry weather thereafter;
rain/thundershower is likely in a few places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim;
isolated rain/thundershower is likely in Orissa during the next 24 hours and mainly
dry weather thereafter; rise in maximum temperature in Jharkhand, Orissa and Gangetic
West Bengal; rain/thundershower is likely in a few places in Assam & Meghalaya
and Arunachal Pradesh; isolated rain/thundershower is likely in the rest of the
region; rain/thundershower is likely in many places in Andaman & Nicobar islands;
isolated rain/thundershower is likely in south Tamil Nadu and Kerala; isolated
duststorm/thunderstorm is likely in Rajasthan till tonight and mainly dry weather
thereafter; rise in the maximum temperature in Chhattisgarh;
and,
mainly dry weather in the rest of the country.
WARNING: Isolated heavy rainfall is likely
in Andaman & Nicobar islands during the next 48 hours. Squally wind speed reaching
45-55 kmph is also likely in Andaman islands and adjoining sea areas during the
next 48 hours. Sea condition will be rough to very rough around Andaman islands.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.
