     Heat wave conditions are likely to increase over parts of east India and north Andhra Pradesh from Wednesday onwards. Highest maximum temperature of 44.5°C in the country was recorded at Barmer in Rajasthan. Maximum temperatures were 2-4°C above normal over the remaining parts of the north-west and central india.

     Isolated duststorm/thunderstorm is likely in Punjab and Haryana & Delhi; rain/ thundershower is likely in a few places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 24 hours and isolated thereafter; isolated rain/thundershower is likely in Orissa during the next 24 hours and mainly dry weather thereafter; rain/thundershower is likely at many places in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours and scattered thereafter; isolated rain/thundershower is likely in the rest region; rain/thundershower is likely in most places in Andaman & Nicobar islands; isolated rain/thundershowers is likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep; isolated duststorm/ thunderstorm is likely in north Rajasthan; and, mainly dry weather in the rest of the country.

     CYCLONE WARNING (next 48 hours): A very severe cyclonic storm Nargis over west-central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal remained practically stationary and lay centred at 1430 hours IST on Tuesday near lat. 13.5ºN and long. 85.5ºE, about 550 km east-northeast of Chennai. The system is likely to intensify further and move slowly in a northerly direction for some more time. Thereafter, it is likely to move northeastwards. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Andaman & Nicobar islands during the next 48 hours.

     Strong winds of speed reaching 45-55 kmph is likely along and off north Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts during next 24 hours. Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph is also likely over Andaman island and adjoining sea areas during the next 48 hours. Sea condition will be rough to very rough along and off north Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts and around Andaman Islands. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.
