Arunachal Pradesh holds winter festival at Pangsau Pass

     Itanagar: The four-day long cultural fiesta, Pangsau Pass winter festival was held in Arunchal Pradesh's Nampong. The festival brought together various tribes of the region on a single platform. More than 26 tribes and sub-tribes with different cultures and unique festivals of their own exist in Arunachal Pradesh. More than 20 dance troupes from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and neighbouring Myanmar participated in the Pangsau Pass winter festival. The stunning post-harvest dance performance by the 53 delegates from Myanmar was the main attraction. The fiesta focuses on exchange of traditions and strengthening of bonds among the various participating tribes. "We are very thankful to the organizing community of the Pangsau Pass winter festival," said Chow Sanjay Miang, artist, Tai Khamte Tribe. "To exchange our traditional folk dances with other tribes of the state. And to create peace and harmony among the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh," he added. The festival with its magnificent treats of assorted activities like cultural shows and sports attracts tourists as well. Visitors get a chance to see and understand the rich North Eastern culture and appreciate its scenic natural beauty. "We saw festival of this place, which is incredible. The sceneries that we have seen here are so close to my heart. Seeing this for the first time is really a beautiful experience," said Cetona Gohain, a visitor from Assam. Traditional games and sports like bamboo stick walking race, stone shot put throw and archery were also held during the festival. Another interesting feature of the fiesta was the vintage cars and bikers rally for peace, which started at Jairampur and ended at the festival ground. Over 40 vintage cars and hundreds of bikes took part in the rally.
