Goa police registers Russian girl's rape case

     Panaji: Goa police have registered a case against two suspects accused of raping a nine-year-old Russian girl. The girl was reportedly molested and raped on Tuesday while she was with her mother at Arambol Beach , about 45 kilometres Panaji. "One case has been registered at the Pernem Police station, where the mother of the victim has lodged a complaint. According to her the girl was bathing in the sea when a person started abusing her. The girl started crying and rushed to her mother, who was on a beach bed," said A B Deshpande, Superintendent of Police, Goa , said on Wednesday. A government hospital in Panaji confirmed penetration during medical examination of the girl. Police are trying to track down other suspects by releasing sketches based on the accounts of the victim and her mother. The Russian Embassy has expressed concern over the incident and also on previous attacks on Russian women in Goa . On December 25, 2009, two Russian girls alleged that a taxi driver tried to rape them at Anjuna Beach while they were returning from a Christmas party. Earlier, on December 1, 2009, a 25-year-old Russian girl alleged that a Goa politician raped her in his car near Colva Beach.
