Qatar Airways ranked world’s best airline for second consecutive year

     Sydney: For the second year in a row, Qatar Airways has been ranked as the world’s best airlines at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. According to The Age, Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted congratulated Qatar Airways on the airline’s second consecutive win, pointing out that the carrier had rapidly climbed the rankings from its number eight spot six years ago. According to the list, Qantas fell out of the World Airline Awards’ top 10 for the first time, dropping to number 15 from number eight last year, but it received three top rankings: for best first class lounge (at Sydney Airport), best premium economy class and best premium economy class catering. According to Skytrax, the world’s top 20 airlines are as follows: 1. Qatar Airways 2. Asiana Airlines 3. Singapore Airlines 4. Cathay Pacific Airways 5. ANA All Nippon Airways 6. Etihad Airways 7. Turkish Airlines 8. Emirates 9. Thai Airways International 10. Malaysia Airlines 11. Garuda Indonesia 12. Virgin Australia 13. EVA Air 14. Lufthansa 15. Qantas Airways 16. Korean Air 17. Air New Zealand 18. Swiss Int'l Air Lines 19. Air Canada 20. Hainan Airlines Several other awards were also announced during the ceremony, including best first-class, which was awarded to Etihad, best business-class, which was awarded to Cathay Pacific, best inflight entertainment, which was awarded to Emirates and best low cost carrier, which went to AirAsia.
