Pilots sacked over mid-air cockpit argument

London: Two pilots were sacked following a heated mid-air cockpit argument. Captain Stephen Bird told his co-pilot, Stephen Akers, that he had not completed pre-flight paperwork and retorted "cos you're my b***h”, News.com.au reported. The situation worsened after the aircraft encountered turbulence and Akers asked Bird to fly in some dark clouds for safety reasons, but Bird ignored the advice. In the argument that followed, Akers allegedly said Bird was a "control freak" and told him to "f*ck off." Both pilots, aged in their 50s, were flying from Exeter, southwest England, to the Spanish city of Malaga last May. Both men filed complaints against the other with their employer budget airline Flybe and were sacked following an investigation.
