Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi's condition stable, discharged from hospital
Chennai: Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, peedadhipathi of the Kanchi Mutt, who had been admitted to a hospital in Chennai after an episode of fainting, was discharged on Tuesday and returned to Kancheepuram mutt. His Holiness' condition was stable, according to doctors at the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre.

The seer was shifted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre here from a Hyderabad hospital where the pontiff was taken after falling ill while in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. The Swamigal was suffering from exhaustion and had fainted while going to the Chandramouleeswara Swamy temple in Nellore town to perform religious rituals.

The Seer was taken to the hospital in Hyderabad at around 4.30 pm in a state of coma.

The pontiff was on Monday shifted to the private hospital here from Hyderabad and Swamigal's condition was stable, hospital sources said. "The condition of Sankaracharya of Kanchi Mutt, Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre this morning is stable," a medical bulletin from the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Hospital had said on Monday.

"The 79-year-old seer is in a private ward and is being treated for exhaustion. He is progressing well," the medical bulletin added.

According to sources close to the mutt, the seer suffered from problems of blood sugar and hypertension, and a team of doctors from Chennai, including the pontiff's personal doctor, had reached Hyderabad and shifted His Holiness to the Chennai hospital on Monday.
