After the clash, Nido Tania, son of an Arunachal Pradesh MLA, had paid off a shop-owner whose glass counter he had smashed in the melee that followed. The police came and left. He died at a friend's place in his sleep next day of injuries and a post-mortem examination was conducted at the AIIMS.

The 19-year-old Tania's father, Nido Parimal, is a Congress MLA from Raga constituency in Arunachal Pradesh. The police have now registered a case of murder under Section 302 of IPC. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered.

Tania was a student of BA first year in Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. On a holiday, he was staying with a friend at a house in Green Park Extension in Delhi. Tania had gone to Lajpat Nagar to meet a friend in the afternoon on Wednesday. According to reports, he asked a shopkeeper at a shop, Rajdhani Paneer Bhandar, the way to locate his friend's house. Shopkeeper Farman allegedly made a racial comment on him, on which the boy got infuriated, and a clash followed in which other shopkeepers also joined, according to reports.

On Thursday afternoon his friend found Tania was not responding to calls. He was taklen rushed to AIIMS where he was declared brought dead. A post-mortem examination conducted there found he died of internal injuries.
